About AIRLIFT One

Based in the heart of Startup Nation, at the intersection of aerodynamics, autonomy, and electric propulsion - we are changing personal aviation.
AIRLIFT One enables you to travel 5 times faster than a car by introducing the world’s most efficient all-electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft: an air taxi for 2-5 people. You won’t have to own one, you will simply pay per ride and call it with a push of a button.

It’s our mission to make air taxis available to everyone and as affordable as riding a car.

- Take-off and Land Anywhere -
Quiet electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) is the technology that will change travel forever.
It enables you to access city centres with an aircraft. Leaving the city after a stressful day will soon be transformed into a thrilling ride. By travelling through the air you’ll be able to avoid time-consuming traffic jams, while enjoying a magnificent view.

About the Role

AIRLIFT One team is looking for a RT software LiDAR engineer. You will be working with bright people to implement cutting edge software algorithms to perceive and model the world of AIRLIFT One aircraft through Lidar.

AIRLIFT One has a diverse team of passionate and driven individuals, making us a powerhouse of innovation, design, engineering, and manufacturing. We are hiring the best and the brightest to accelerate the industry, and bring forward the next transportation revolution.

The RT Software Engineer (LiDAR) will be responsible for architecting algorithms, implementing, and maintaining the core drivers that interface with the aircraft LiDAR sensor firmware, to parse and optimize the bi-directional data streams between LiDAR sensor and computer systems. You also will work closely with key stakeholders from teams across AIRLIFT One, including firmware development, machine learning, visualization and tooling, and data infrastructure. As a RT software engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining software of the highest quality and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop algorithms for LiDAR processing by an embedded flight computer, feature extraction, scan matching and LiDAR odometry.
  • Working in a highly cross-disciplinary environment that interfaces regularly with various teams
  • Interfacing with testing team to help test and fix identified issues
  • Writing high performance code and building robust architectures as part of a scrum environment
  • Reviewing code developed by other software engineers
  • Participating in team sprints and implementing product features based upon identified requirements

Qualification:

  • BS or MS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related
  • 2-3 years of industry experience focused in either large-scale commercial, safety-critical, or mission-critical software.
  • Experience in automotive systems, sensor processing (e.g. camera, radar, lidar), robotics, computer vision, or simulation are a plus.
  • Deep knowledge and proficiency in C++ with other languages such as C# and python being a plus
  • Fundamental understanding of data structures, design patterns, and architecting software systems
